DNA Further Expands LTE Footprint

Finnish multi-service operator DNA Finland has extended coverage of its 4G LTE network to the city of Lahti, just a couple of weeks after it announced a similar expansion to Kotka.

The operator first announced plans to trial LTE-based services in Helsinki and Hameenlinna in August 2011, going on to launch 4G services commercially four months later. Initially LTE connectivity was on offer in business areas in the cities of Turku and Tampere, in the city of Hameenlinna, and in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Claiming to have ‘extensive’ 4G coverage in these areas, DNA noted that it expected to extend coverage to the entirety of the four cites during early 2012, and it has since claimed to have rolled out ‘hundreds of base stations,’ brining the faster speeds to more than one million Finns.
