Digicel Fiji, TFL Complete 4G Frequency Allocations

Digicel Fiji and Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) have now reportedly secured their own full allocation of spectrum. Digicel has paid a total ofFJD1.94 million (USD1.03 million) for its 30MHz block of frequencies; it acquired three blocks of Long Term Evolution (LTE) suitable spectrum in the 800MHz band on Monday for FJD1.26 million and has now added blocks in the LTE-1800 band. Commenting on its allocation, Digicel CEO Maurice McCarthy said that his firm was pleased to have won the full allocation of LTE spectrum which will be used to complement its 4G WiMAX network.

Meanwhile, TFL acting chief executive Ivan Fong confirmed that his company has secured FJD2.2 million worth of frequencies as a result of the auction – again securing a total of 30MHz, thought to be three blocks of LTE-800 and three of LTE-1800.
