Cyber Security Conference Concludes- Speakers Urged for More & Speedy International Collaboration

An international-level Conference called “Global Cybersecurity Cooperation: Challenges and Visions” was held on 2-3 December 2013 at the Four Season Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. The conference was organized by the Government of Azerbaijan in cooperation with International Telecommunication Union. The conference was also supported by World Bank, INTERPOL, World Economic Forum and HP.

The opening remarks of the conference were presented by Prof. Dr. Ali M. Abbasov, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, Azerbaijan and Dr. Hamadoun Touré, Secretary General, ITU. A very insightful panel discussion was organized in which prominent speakers took part. The panelist included Dr. Hamadoun Touré, Secretary General, ITU, Prof. Dr. Ali Abbasov, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, Azerbaijan, Mr. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Bangladesh, Ms. Kristiina Ojuland, Member, European Parliament and Mr. Herbert Rastbichler, Vice President and Managing Director, Central and Eastern Europe, Hewlett Packard. In the discussions the panelists discussed the future aspects of cyber security and the different ways and means to foster greater international cooperation on securing cyber space.

The basic aim of the conference was to facilitate discussions on all aspects of cyber security and to promote the exchange of best practices as well as sharing of meaningful information on major developments in the protection of online activities.

The conference was attended by high-level delegates and leading experts from governments, businesses, academia and NGOs. Delegates from CACF were also invited by the MoC Azerbaijan who showed their support  to the conference and the speakers.
