Cosmote completes first LTE pilot stage
Greek cellco Cosmote has completed the stage one of pilot testing of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband infrastructure. Cosmote claims that it will put Cosmote ahead of its domestic rivals in terms of 4G network development.
According to a press release, Cosmote has installed a pilot LTE network ‘in an urban environment’, and plans to ‘proceed gradually’ to develop the new 4G network with the installation of LTE equipment at selected locations. Cosmote also stated that it has carried out ‘laboratory’ tests in which it achieved data transmission speeds of over 100Mbps/45Mbps (download/upload) over an LTE platform.
