China 5G Rollout set for October

2020 is going to be the year 5G. Many countries have planned to launch 5G but it looks like China is ahead of everyone else. China 5G rollout set for October. The district of Hongkou in Shanghai is expected to be the first city to have commercial 5G coverage that will offer 100 times faster speed than 4G.

The Mayor of Shanghai was the one who tested the network by making a phone call using a Huawei MateX smartphone. Huawei MateX is the first Huawei 5G smartphone.

With greater capacity and lower latency 5G has the potential to impact all the industries in one way or another. 5G is the next-generation of wireless network technology that anticipates having revenues to reach $672 billion by the end of 2020. According to GSMA, 5G connections are forecast to reach 1.2 billion by 2025, accounting for 14 percent of the total connections at the time.

According to Chinese technology leader Huawei Technologies, 5G could “support connections for at least 100 billion devices and 10 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) individual user experience capability of extremely low-latency and response times.”

Now that 5G rollout in China is underway, other nations will also speed up their 5G commercial adoption plans as well.
