Celcom Axiata earmarks capital expenditure of MYR950m this year

Malaysian mobile network operator Celcom Axiata has set aside MYR950 million (USD275 million) for capital expenditure this year. With the cellco saying that it intends to use the funds to provide better network quality and improve data performance for customers, Cellcom CEO Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly was cited as saying that, of the total, MYR400 million would directed towards the roll out of 2,014 LTE-compatible base stations by the end of this year. Meanwhile, Shazalli also said that Cellcom continues to work closely with partners to strengthen its network optimisation programme with a view to improving overall network performance, specifically reducing the number of dropped calls and enhancing its network coverage.
