Gunmen destroy Afghan Telecom communications tower

A communication pillar of Afghan Telecom was destroyed by Armed Individuals in Dykundi province. Mohammad Ebrahim Naseri, head of Information and Technology of Dykundi, told BNA that the pillar of Afghan Telecom was destroyed by unknown gunmen in the Zard-Gloy area of Kejran district. Naseri added blamed the carelessness of guards put in charge.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) wrote a letter to Afghan government over the issue of illegal Afghan SIMs in Pakistan. According to the reports, PTA will sign agreement with Government of Afghanistan and after the agreement all the Afghan SIMs will be banned in Pakistan.

Pakistan took this step to avoid terror activities in Pakistan. Sources told that towers near Pak-Afghan border provide the signals.

The ICT ministers of Iran and Afghanistan have agreed to boost cooperation in the ICT space, and are set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to that effect. Under the planned deal, Tehran and Kabul will establish five specialised committees for cooperation in the areas of e-government, research and development, infrastructure and network development, ICT regulation and post.
