Huawei, as you may know, is the official partner of Pakistan in the Safe City projects, fiber-optic cable project, and other CPEC-related undertakings. All the equipment, we are using, aree made in China. Huawei does not depend on other countries to manufacture its products. So, there will be no effect on our market.

CPEC is turning into an economic reality rapidly that more than 20 projects have been completed out of 43 confirmed projects. Tech companies like Huawei which have already established a good working relationship with Pakistani government would certainly create employment opportunities in the forthcoming project.

The government of Pakistan decided to improve IT and telecom sector because it is one of the prime drivers of a growing economy. The 2019-20 budget focuses on 29 different ongoing and new development projects occurring under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

In this Rs. 7.341 billion budget allocation, the government is focusing on the completion of 10 ongoing projects by spending Rs. 1.466 billion from this budget and 19 new schemes will be introduced from the remaining Rs 5.864 billion.

While Rs. 600 million for the refurbishment of 3G/4G services as well as Rs 474 million for sole replacement of GSM networks in Azad and Jammu Kashmir for the uplifting of the infrastructure there. The government also allocated Rs. 100 million to build new technology parks in the capital city under the technology parks development project (TDP).

Pakistani Students Outshine in the Huawei ICT Competition 2018-2019 Global Finals

The Huawei ICT Competition 2018-2019 Global Finals, hosted by Huawei and featuring the theme of “Connecting Glory Future”, was successfully concluded at the Huawei Songshan Lake Base in Dongguan. After fierce competition, the Pakistan team comprising of three students won the second prize while Malaysian and Algerian team shared the first prize of the practice competition in network track. Since its launch in June 2018, the contest has attracted 61 countries from all over the world, 1600+ colleges and universities, and more than 100,000 college students participated in the competition. Huawei ICT Competition Pakistan 2018-2019 was launched on September 6, 2018. Roadshow and workshops were held at 53 universities and academic institutions across Pakistan, making it one of the largest scale event in Higher Education in Pakistan and also largest in the overseas area of Huawei ICT Competition globally.

The number of participants at roadshows was 15,000+ while the successful online applicants in Pakistan have reached 10,672. More than 30+ locations and 5000+ students attended the exam conducted on Huawei‘s e-learning platform. Top 300 students are invited to attend the Round 2 from which 171 students passed HCNA Certification out of 270 certification exam attendees. The Top 100 students took part in the National Final and the most competitive Top 6 students were selected for the Middle East Regional Final. 3 out of the top 6 students qualified for the International Final after the Middle East Regional Final.

Huawei has been successful in establishing 15 Huawei ICT Academies all across Pakistan. This program provides opportunities to promote studies of advanced technologies through R&D and adopt Huawei’s globally renowned university-enterprise cooperation model. Also part of the celebration was the selected excellent academies and instructors from representative offices globally. Out of 50 countries and 600 Huawei ICT academies globally, Pakistan’s 3 academies and 2 instructors qualified in the top 10.

Future versions of Huawei smartphones that run on Android will also lose access to popular services, including the Google Play Store and Gmail and YouTube apps, said the Reuters report.
