BH Telecom to launch HSPA+ in northern and eastern areas

BH Telecom has inked two deals with Finnish vendor Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), with one of those understood to be related to the provision of equipment for the introduction of HSPA+ technology via a compact radio area network (RAN).

The HSPA+ deployment will take place in parts of northern and eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, allowing BH Telecom to provide theoretical downlink speeds of up to 42Mbps, and uplink rates of 5.76Mbps. The project is expected to be completed in mid-2013, by which date some 100 new HSPA+-enabled base stations are expected to be in operation.

The other contract signed with NSN is believed to relate to migration of TDM subscriber equipment for MGW and SS equipment.
