
Belgacom Expects 4G Network to Cover 35% of the Population
Belgacom has revealed that its now offers LTE technology in more than 100 towns across the country, with the operator saying that it expects the network to cover 35% of the Belgian population by the end of this month. Further, Belgacom – which offers mobile services under the Proximus banner – also noted that with its 3G coverage level now standing at 99%, it saw mobile data traffic double in the first three months of 2013 when compared to the same period a year earlier.
Belgacom inaugurated commercial LTE services in November 2012, with its network initially available in the following locations: Hasselt, Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Liege, Namur, Mons, Waver and the Haasrode Industrial Park.
