Beeline Kazakhstan Revenues Up 4% in Q3

Kar-Tel, working under the Beeline Kazakhstan brand, reported third-quarter revenues up 4 percent year-on-year to KZT 34.07 billion, as growth in the fixed-line market helped offset tough competition in mobile. Mobile revenues were up just 1 percent from a year earlier. EBITDA dropped by 11 percent to KZT 14.97 billion, and the EBITDA margin declined by 7.7 percentage points to 43.9 percent, hurt by the transition to bundled tariff plans, which Beeline said was progressing to plan. Capital expenditure in the first nine months of the year decreased by 8 percent to USD 101 million, and the ratio of CAPEX to revenues dropped from 18 percent to 16 percent. The subscriber base of the operator totaled 9.060 million at the end of Q3, up by 5 percent year-on-year and almost 250,000 customers more than at the end of June. ARPU totaled KZT 1.141 in Q3, down by 4 percent from a year earlier on lower voice revenues.
