BASE Company Confirms LTE-A Trials

Belgium’s BASE Company claims to have become the country’s first operator to trial LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology. In confirming the development BASE revealed that it had carried out tests of the 4G technology in Hasselt in partnership with Chinese vendor ZTE using 2×20MHz Carrier Aggregation, combined with MIMO 2×2 technology, allowing maximum speeds of up to 300Mbps. Suzanne Kelder, BASE Company’s chief technical officer, said of the trials:

Even this is still a test phase, we clearly see the advantages for our customers: thisLTE-Advanced tests show data speeds over 250Mbps.’
