Bahrain Telecommunication Units Import Reached 268,000

According to a report by Bahrain’s Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA), the import of telecom units reached 268,000 units in first three month of the current year. In 2017, TRA processed more than 1.5 million units. Bahrain Telecommunication Units Import Reached 268,000

This import of telecom units is basically a consumer protection requirements to ensure them about their safety. All the devices imported by Bahrain TRA aree connected to public telecommunication network. Additionally, the import of telecom devices becomes more easy with TRA’s electronic approval system. Furthermore, through this system, the overall request taking time was less than two days.

TRA’s Technical and operation Director Muhammad Alnoaimi said:

This will lead to ensuring safer public networks in the Kingdom, as some equipment may not meet emission safety standard, and may not be compatible with Bahrain’s telecom networks, which may harm existing telecommunication networks and consumers if it is imported and used in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

According to him, this import of devices aimed to control the importation of telecommunication equipment into the Kingdom.

A data report presented that the volume of import of terminal devices including cell phones, smart phones, fax, printers and scanner reached 1,286,476in 2017. Additionally, at the same place passive equipment volume reached 87,021 units.
