Altel launches LTE in Taraz

Altel, a subsidiary of Kazakh national operator Kazakh telecom, has launched 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in Taraz. Altel inaugurated its 4G network in December 2012 in the cities of Astana and Almaty. Coverage was extended to a number of satellite towns around the two cities in July 2013, before reaching Aktau, Aktobe, Atyrau, Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Shymkent in December 2013. More recently, the network was extended to Kyzylorda last month.
