Altel Adds Six New Cities to LTE Footprint

Altel, the mobile subsidiary of state-backed operator Kazakhtelecom (KT), has announced that it has extended its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to six new cities, namely Aktau, Aktobe, Atyrau, Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Shymkent.

Altel inaugurated its 4G network in December 2012 in the cities of Astana and Almaty. Coverage was extended to a number of satellite towns around the two cities in July 2013.
