AIS Soft-Launches 3G Network with 200,000 Customers

Thailand’s AIS has soft-launched its new 3G network on the 2.1Ghz spectrum the company was recently allocated in an auction.

The company will offer 200,000 existing customers access to the new service in advance of the main commercial launch on the 8th May.

The network currently covers main cities in 18 provinces and inner Bangkok.

The company is looking to transfer around 10 million of its nearly 36 million customers over to the new 3G network by the end of this year.

Rival networks, Dtac and True Move plan to launch their 2.1 GHz based 3G networks next month.
