Islamabad, Pakistan - 06 December 2008- Pakistan Telecommunication Authority in association with Qualcomm Inc. USA and Central Asian Cellular Forum, successfully conducted a two day training session on 3G (UMTS/WCDMA) Network Planning. The event was held at PTA HQs, Islamabad from 4-5 December 2008.

The workshop was arranged in the wake of upcoming 3G licensing. PTA has assured the telecom industry for its full support and co-operation for the introduction of new technology and to provide level playing field to all the stakeholders. The government feels that the Pakistan telecom industry has matured to a point where migration to 3G is inevitable and the regulatory authority will take every step to facilitate the migration process and safeguard the business interest of the stake holders. On the occasion of closing ceremony, Chairman PTA Dr Mohammed Yaseen distributed the certificates to the participants of the workshop.
The training was conducted by Mr. Syed Umair & Mr. Muhammad Arif Khan, senior telecom experts and Qualcomm certified trainers. More then 30 participants, including senior professionals from country's leading operators as well as vendors and PTA members attended the workshop.
The training session covered the following areas of 3G WCDMA/UMTS wireless technology.
